‘Poets And Philosophers In My Backyard 3’ Vintage Mid Century Modern Swedish Style Abstract Mixed Media Painting

$500.00

‘Poets And Philosophers In My Backyard’

A modern, innovative mixed media composition using traditional materials such as oil paint, oil pastel, ink and soft pastel.

A passionate painting cleverly executed to capture a mood and energy.

The sophisticated color palette is masterfully utilized with an intricate play between warms and cools that invite the viewer to linger. Several mediums are used to create such movement which is indicative of a level of skill and knowledge. Swift, loose brushstrokes showcase excellence, and an emotional connection to early modern abstraction.

This artwork can be displayed in any orientation. It is signed on the back.

There is a cell photo taken (in daylight) from an angel to show some of the texture in this work. If you require more photos or video, please contact me.

The vintage mid century wood frame is a lovely finishing touch for this magnificent painting. It’s old, has some imperfections and age related wear.

The Flemish Renaissance, Mughal portraiture, Impressionism, Classicism and Cubism are references for my work. Each painting unfolds from observation, and an intuitive narrative. However, the style itself is not a conscious choice in my practice; it is the result.

A painting seldom begins and ends on one panel. A vision begins in the representational form but the moment it shifts towards the abstract; I begin work on multiple substrates. The unpredictability of these in-between states are fully explored. The work spills organically and grows in any direction similar to the roots of a plant. Thus, most representational paintings become triptychs or diptychs containing an abstract companion piece. One aspect always underscores and engages the other with an ultimate aim to provide an overall indulgent reprieve from the rituals of daily life.

(The artist actively exhibits her paintings from Bergdorf Goodman, New York to the UK. Her work is collected internationally and she keeps studios in Canada, France, Japan and India.)

Description

This study was painted to form a large oil painting that has sold. I often paint small studies in oils or gouache. See Tate to learn about the gouache medium. You may also commission a painting at no extra cost, please contact me if you have any questions.
