Deconstructed Landscape
This is a fine art original painting by me, Alexandra Swistak.
This miniature atmospheric landscape painting is executed with expressive but precise brush work. There is much realistic detail in pathways, trees and hills that are represented in bold shapes. Energetic brushstrokes create texture as the composition comes into focus. The juxtaposition of blues, greens, and yellows creates a visually energetic mood that dares the viewer to linger.
I spend a great deal of time to ensure the listing is accurate. This tiny painting was very difficult to photograph. The listing photos are taken in natural light. There is also a scanned image included. Please contact me if more photos or a video is required.
The frame has scuffing and small imperfections due to use and age. It’s still a beautiful choice for this stunning tiny landscape.

The Flemish Renaissance, Mughal portraiture, Impressionism, Classicism and Cubism are references for my work. Each painting unfolds from observation, and an intuitive narrative. However, the style itself is not a conscious choice in my practice; it is the result.
A painting seldom begins and ends on one panel. A vision begins in the representational form but the moment it shifts towards the abstract; I begin work on multiple substrates. The unpredictability of these in-between states are fully explored. The work spills organically and grows in any direction similar to the roots of a plant. Thus, most representational paintings become triptychs or diptychs containing an abstract companion piece. One aspect always underscores and engages the other with an ultimate aim to provide an overall indulgent reprieve from the rituals of daily life.
(The artist actively exhibits her paintings from Bergdorf Goodman, New York to the UK. Her work is collected internationally and she keeps studios in Canada, France, Japan and India.)
